PR & deploy watcher: reviews, deploy checks, error triage
Wakes on GitHub, deploy and error events. It reviews each PR, checks the live site after deploys and triages error spikes, and hands small fixes to a cloud coding agent. Nothing merges or deploys without you.
Based on the free use-case: /use-cases/builder-gatekeeper-bots-six-rules
The payoff
A PR and deploy watcher for a solo developer or a small team. When a pull request opens, it reads the diff and leaves you a short review with the risky lines called out. When a deploy finishes, it checks the live site and the runtime logs and tells you only if something broke. When an error spikes, it builds a triage note with the likely commit. Small, clear fixes get handed to a cloud coding agent that opens a PR. Nothing merges, deploys, rolls back or promotes without you.
What it replaces: refreshing the deploy dashboard after every push, finding out about a broken checkout from a customer, and the context-switch tax of reading every PR cold. Time how often you check your deploy dashboard in a day. That's your baseline.
Who this is for
- Indie developers and small teams shipping on GitHub, with a host like Vercel, who don't have an on-call rotation.
- Anyone already using coding agents who wants a second pair of eyes that isn't the agent grading its own work.
Not for you if you want an autonomous agent with merge rights. This pack is deliberately the opposite. Main stays protected by GitHub itself, not by a promise in a prompt.
How it works
| Lane | Trigger | Output |
|---|---|---|
| PR review | GitHub: PR opened or updated | Risk summary + blocking issues, in chat |
| Deploy check | After a deploy (webhook from your CI) or every 2h on weekdays | Silent if healthy; alert with logs if not |
| Error triage | Sentry event (or webhook) | Likely cause, suspect commit, repro steps |
| Issue intake | Twice a day | Bug reports from X mentions → deduped GitHub issues |
| Fix hand-off | You say "fix it" | Cloud coding agent opens one PR |
A taste: the rule that makes it safe
From Mike Gannotti's builder/gatekeeper setup (@MichaelGannotti): protect main with GitHub, not with promises. Before you connect anything, turn on a branch ruleset for main in your repo settings:
Require a pull request before merging ON
Required approvals 1 (you)
Block force pushes ON
Restrict deletions ON
Bypass list empty
With that in place, even a confused bot can't push to main. Everything else in this pack is about making the bot useful inside that fence.
Where this comes from
- Builder/gatekeeper split, branch ruleset, "wait for events, don't poll": Mike Gannotti (@MichaelGannotti). Free use-case: /use-cases/builder-gatekeeper-bots-six-rules.
- Draft first. Nothing posts, merges or deploys without you: Paulo (@paulopierrondi).
- X mentions → deduped GitHub issues → small fixes to a coding agent: Emanuele Di Pietro (@emanueledpt).
- Read-only Site Sentry and "hire it like an employee": @zeuss_000. Deploy Watch after every deploy: @igor_khalip.
- Triage bot = skill + computer + plugins: @Lucian_Lc7. Webhook hand-off from coding agents: @sakansokan. One PR, never merged by the bot: @arjunkshah21.
