Work

Tip only: select a line of the bot's reply and press Cmd+L to quote it

You want to push back on one line of a long reply without retyping it.

What hurt

Yair (@finebutwhy) shared a small Grok Bot app trick: highlight any line of your bot's reply and hit Ctrl+L (Cmd+L on Mac) to drop it into your message as a quote. Not affiliated with xAI.

What to install or create

Quote the exact line, then say what to change. The bot knows which part you mean, so the fix is narrower. His next trick: type "1." for a real list, Shift+Enter for the next item, Tab to nest.

Bots

  • No new bot. Follow the first-run steps.

Plugins

  • None on day one. Follow the first-run steps.

Routines

  • None on the first run. Watch one manual pass first.

The prompt

This is a tip, not a pasteable system prompt. The author did not publish one. Follow the first-run steps.

First run

  1. 1Read https://x.com/finebutwhy/status/2108916479660048531 (credit @finebutwhy).
  2. 2In a bot reply, select the line you want to discuss.
  3. 3Press Ctrl+L (Cmd+L on Mac) to add it as a quote.
  4. 4Write what you want changed under the quote and send.

Approval fence

No approval needed; it only changes how you write to the bot.

What to tweak

Point at the sentence instead of describing it.
