Spot a broken streetlight, send one line, and the repair request gets filed

Reporting a small local problem means hunting down the right form and asset number.

What hurt

Justin (@FoxxAndCo) noticed two streetlights out while walking his dog. He asked his bot to find the two closest lights to his home and submit a repair report. That was the whole prompt. Not affiliated with xAI.

What to install or create

The bot found the asset numbers on the utility company's website, filed both repair requests, and routed the responses to his email. Both lights were fixed within two days.

The prompt

This is a tip, not a pasteable system prompt. The author did not publish one. Follow the first-run steps.

First run

  1. 1Read https://x.com/FoxxAndCo/status/2108948824337080592 (credit @FoxxAndCo).
  2. 2Tell the bot what's broken and roughly where ("the two lights closest to my home").
  3. 3Ask it to find the utility or city's reporting page and the asset numbers.
  4. 4Review the request, then let it submit and route replies to your email.

Approval fence

Filing a public report is low risk, but have it show you the request before it submits the first time.

What to tweak

Hand the bot the whole errand, including the lookup, not just the form.
