Work

Get routine reports in the bot chat with phone notifications, not as emails waiting for Send

A routine that emails you a report leaves it sitting as a draft waiting for Send.

What hurt

JD (@joshuaday) corrected his own earlier advice: a routine's email waits for Send, but a report in the bot's chat doesn't. His fix: on desktop, once, tell the bot to change the 9am and noon report from email to this chat; then in the Grok Bot phone app, tap the bot's name and turn Notifications on. What to install or create

Deliver to chat, notify on phone. Email stays for things that really go out.

Bots

  • No new bot. Follow the first-run steps.

Plugins

  • None on day one. Follow the first-run steps.

Routines

  • None on the first run. Watch one manual pass first.

change my 9am and noon report from email to this chat

First run

  1. 1Read https://x.com/joshuaday/status/2110501022192009660 (credit @joshuaday).
  2. 2On desktop, tell the bot once: change my 9am and noon report from email to this chat.
  3. 3In the Grok Bot phone app, open that bot and turn its notifications on (per the author: tap the bot's name, then Notifications).
  4. 4Wait for the next run and check the report arrives as a notification.

Approval fence

Reports to yourself need no send. Mail to others still waits for approval.

What to tweak

Steal the one-line switch from email to chat.
