One inbox, every bot: route mail with plus aliases

You get one bot email address per account, but you run many bots.

What hurt

Dave Harman (@d_j_harman) pointed out that Grok Bot email supports plus aliases, so each bot can get its own address (+atlas, +tech, +beelink and so on). Everything still lands in one inbox, and a routine set to fire on each alias hands that mail to the right bot. Not affiliated with xAI.

What to install or create

One alias per bot, one routine per alias. Each bot only sees its own mail.

Bots

  • Any bot with a lane

Gets only the mail sent to its alias.

Plugins

  • None on day one. Follow the first-run steps.

Routines

  • Alias router. On mail to an alias. Hand mail sent to +alias to the matching bot.

The prompt

This is a tip, not a pasteable system prompt. The author did not publish one. Follow the first-run steps.

First run

  1. 1Read https://x.com/d_j_harman/status/2110510965557219511 (credit @d_j_harman).
  2. 2Claim your bot email address if you haven't yet.
  3. 3Pick one alias per bot (for example you+tech@, you+receipts@).
  4. 4Create a routine for each alias that fires on new mail to it and hands it to that bot.
  5. 5Send a test email to each alias and check the right bot picked it up.

Approval fence

Outgoing mail still waits for your approval on a draft card.

What to tweak

Steal name+bot@ addresses and per-alias routines.
