Home upkeep reminders that reset from the day you actually did the job

Furnace filters and gutters get forgotten, and fixed schedules drift from reality.

What hurt

Phillip Vanguard (@lowincomelowiq) built a bot that reminds him when house jobs are due. Not affiliated with xAI.

What to install or create

When he marks a job done, the next reminder counts from that day instead of the original due date. He added his own jobs too. For renters it sorts which jobs are yours and which are your landlord's, and it syncs with Google or Outlook Calendar (Apple users import a file once).

Bots

  • Upkeep bot

Tracks house jobs and resets reminders from the done date.

Plugins

  • Calendar

    Optional

Routines

  • None on the first run. Watch one manual pass first.

The prompt

This is a tip, not a pasteable system prompt. The author did not publish one. Follow the first-run steps.

First run

  1. 1Read https://x.com/lowincomelowiq/status/2108242238589247870 (credit @lowincomelowiq).
  2. 2List your recurring house jobs and how often each should happen.
  3. 3If you rent, ask the bot to split them into yours and your landlord's.
  4. 4Connect your calendar and have it add the reminders.
  5. 5When you finish a job, tell it "done" so the next one counts from today.

Approval fence

Reminders only; it doesn't book or buy anything.

What to tweak

Count the next reminder from "done", not from "due".
