Work

Cmd+K with quotes searches every chat message, not just bots

Cmd+K usually surfaces bots and settings first, so the message you need stays buried.

What hurt

Pitchfork & Torch (@SuddenlyJon) shared a crisp tip: hit Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) and put the search in quotes. Without quotes you get bots and settings first; with quotes you get every matching message across all chats. Not affiliated with xAI.

What to install or create

Open the command palette, wrap the query in quotes, scan message hits.

Bots

  • No new bot. Follow the first-run steps.

Plugins

  • None on day one. Follow the first-run steps.

Routines

  • None on the first run. Watch one manual pass first.

The prompt

This is a tip, not a pasteable system prompt. The author did not publish one. Follow the first-run steps.

First run

  1. 1Read https://x.com/SuddenlyJon/status/2111214510992179315 (credit @SuddenlyJon).
  2. 2Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows).
  3. 3Type your query inside straight quotes, like "invoice link".
  4. 4Open the message hit instead of a bot or settings row.
  5. 5Drop the quotes when you actually want to jump to a bot by name.

Approval fence

Search only. Nothing is sent or deleted.

What to tweak

Steal the quotes. Use them whenever you are hunting a past message.
