Work

Everything you promise on calls lands in Linear, and a bot triages the follow-ups

Every evening you spend two hours chasing what you promised on today's calls.

What hurt

Marc Klingen (@marcklingen) listed the bots he runs; the one he quantified handles call follow-ups. Not affiliated with xAI.

What to install or create

Anything he commits to on calls automatically lands in Linear, and a bot auto-triages and completes many of the follow-ups. That used to take him about two hours every evening; now it's about 15 minutes. He also gets a pre-brief before every meeting (person, company, history, metrics) and a bot that shares snippets of customer calls with the right engineers so they don't have to watch a 45-minute recording.

The prompt

This is a tip, not a pasteable system prompt. The author did not publish one. Follow the first-run steps.

First run

  1. 1Read https://x.com/marcklingen/status/2108908033862459513 (credit @marcklingen).
  2. 2Have your call notes or recordings feed a bot that extracts your commitments.
  3. 3Create a Linear issue for each commitment automatically.
  4. 4Add a triage bot that handles the simple ones and drafts the rest for you.
  5. 5Add a pre-brief before each meeting.

Approval fence

Follow-ups that go to customers stay drafts until you approve them.

What to tweak

Capture commitments where work already gets tracked, then let a bot clear the easy ones.
