Work
Responsibility ladder: Chat → Research → Draft → Act → Routine → Delegate → Self-Verify
Most people stop at ChatGPT-style Q&A and never give the bot more responsibility.
What hurt
sirens (@sirenshurt) published a practical ladder above plain chat: (1) Chat — answers only, no tools; (2) Research — web/sources, read-only; (3) Draft — content/code/plans you review before live; (4) Act — tools and apps, spend/irreversible still gated; (5) Routine — proven workflow on a schedule, flags exceptions; (6) Delegate — assigns to specialists, you keep major decisions; (7) Self-Verify — checks criteria, corrects, saves lessons, you review exceptions. Move up when the current level is predictable enough to trust. Distinct from a “first boring task” capability ladder — this is about how much responsibility you hand over. Tip only. What to install or create
Name the level. Prove one small job at that level. Promote only when rescue stops.
Bots
Responsibility-ladder bot
Works at one named level (Chat→…→Self-Verify). Does not skip a rung without your yes.
Plugins
None on day one. Follow the first-run steps.
Files
Optional one-pager listing current level, one proven job, and the next promotion criteria.
Routines
None on the first run. Watch one manual pass first.
The prompt
This is a tip, not a pasteable system prompt. The author did not publish one. Follow the first-run steps.
First run
- 1Read https://x.com/sirenshurt/status/2103257912546095509 for the full Chat→…→Self-Verify ladder.
- 2Pick one bot and name its current level out loud (start at Chat or Research if unsure).
- 3Give it one small job that fits that level only — no tools if Chat, read-only if Research, drafts-only if Draft.
- 4Promote one rung only when that job runs without rescue and exceptions are clear.
- 5Keep spend / publish / production behind approval until you intentionally move into Act or higher.
Approval fence
Spend, publish, delete, and production changes stay gated until you move a level up on purpose.
What to tweak
Steal the seven-rung responsibility ladder. Trust climbs with predictability, not vibes.
