Get your bot to call you: a voice service, its own number, and "call me at"

Some updates are easier to hear than to read, but your bot only texts.

What hurt

Dale Edward (@DEPTweets) had his Grok Bot connect Speko, a voice and phone service, verifying through the bot's own new inbox. Not affiliated with xAI.

What to install or create

He told it to get a phone number (about $2 a month) and pick a voice, saved that number in his contacts so the call wouldn't be filtered, and said "call me at [your number]." It called him, with a British accent.

The prompt

This is a tip, not a pasteable system prompt. The author did not publish one. Follow the first-run steps.

First run

  1. 1Read https://x.com/DEPTweets/status/2108930204588511608 (credit @DEPTweets).
  2. 2Ask your bot to connect a voice/phone service and verify through its own inbox.
  3. 3Approve the number purchase (about $2 a month) and pick a voice.
  4. 4Save the number in your contacts, then say "call me at [your number]."

Approval fence

Approve the paid number before it's bought, and only let it call numbers you give it.

What to tweak

Save the bot's number in your contacts first, or the call gets filtered.
