Tip only: connect Apple Calendar with a CalDAV app-specific password

Your calendar lives in iCloud and there's no obvious way to let the bot see it.

What hurt

Jason Turcotte (@Jasonturcotte) posted that you can sync Apple Calendar with Grok Bot by creating a CalDAV app-specific password in your Apple ID account. Not affiliated with xAI.

What to install or create

Create an app-specific password in your Apple ID account for CalDAV, then give it to your bot so it can reach your iCloud calendar. An app-specific password can be revoked on its own without changing your main Apple password.

Bots

  • Main bot

Reads and updates your iCloud calendar over CalDAV.

Plugins

  • Calendar

    Optional

Routines

  • None on the first run. Watch one manual pass first.

The prompt

This is a tip, not a pasteable system prompt. The author did not publish one. Follow the first-run steps.

First run

  1. 1Read https://x.com/Jasonturcotte/status/2107920610449821931 (credit @Jasonturcotte).
  2. 2Sign in to your Apple ID account settings.
  3. 3Create an app-specific password and label it for your bot.
  4. 4Give it to your bot through its secure key prompt and ask it to connect to your iCloud calendar via CalDAV.
  5. 5Test with a read-only question like “what's on my calendar tomorrow?”

Approval fence

Give the password through the bot's secure key prompt, not in chat, and ask before it adds or moves events on shared calendars.

What to tweak

Use a revocable app password, never your main one.
