Scam signal checklist: urgency, fake join, platform switch, run-a-file, lookalike URL

A “relative needs a video call” email can escalate to malware before a link exists.

نقطة الألم

@roadhardfit’s household: stranger free-Gmail mail asked for an urgent relative video call; before any Zoom link existed the “client” pushed a Microsoft Teams file with a lookalike domain (o→0). On a voice chat, Grok Bot called it a classic scam, warned not to install, and with OK marked spam + filed FTC reports; a follow-up caller hung up when asked where the client lives. Steal the signal list. Tip only. Not affiliated with xAI.

النص التوجيهي

هذه نصيحة، وليست نصًا توجيهيًا للنظام يمكن لصقه. لم ينشر المؤلف نصًا. اتبع خطوات التشغيل الأول.

التشغيل الأول

  1. 1Read https://x.com/roadhardfit/status/2114516756152873463 (credit @roadhardfit).
  2. 2Save the signal list: urgency from first message; “joining” before a link exists; pressure to switch platforms; ask to run a file; lookalike URL; free email with no details; caller pushing a link who hangs up on a simple question.
  3. 3If you see any: do not click; do not install; block the sender.
  4. 4Optionally ask your bot (with your OK) to mark spam and help file https://reportfraud.ftc.gov plus Gmail Report phishing.
  5. 5Never grant the bot unsupervised install or payment rights during an incident.

حاجز الموافقة

Bot advises and drafts reports; you approve spam marks and never run stranger files.

ما الذي تعدّله

Steal the checklist; report at reportfraud.ftc.gov and Gmail phishing.
