Make your bot location-aware with an Apple Shortcut and a webhook routine
Your bot has no idea when you wake up, leave home, or get in the car.
نقطة الألم
Stephen Bolger (@stephenjbolger) wired iPhone automations to a webhook-triggered routine in about ten minutes, so his bot gets an event ping with a label and coordinates instead of polling. Not affiliated with xAI.
ماذا تثبّت أو تنشئ
Ask the bot for a webhook-triggered routine and say what to do with location pings. Build one Shortcut that receives Text, gets current location (latitude, longitude, city), and POSTs JSON with the label, time and coordinates using an Authorization: Bearer header. Then add personal automations (arrive/leave, CarPlay connects, alarm stopped) that each pass a Text label into that Shortcut.
الروبوتات
Main bot
Receives location events and turns them into briefs, reminders or logs.

الروتينات
Location ping. On webhook (from iPhone automations). Read the label and coordinates, then do what you set for that event.

التشغيل الأول
- 1Read https://x.com/stephenjbolger/status/2108140285897367968 (credit @stephenjbolger).
- 2Ask your bot to create a webhook-triggered routine for location pings; keep the URL and key private.
- 3In Shortcuts, build one Shortcut that receives Text, gets location details, and POSTs JSON with a Bearer Authorization header; tap play to test.
- 4Add personal automations set to Run Immediately: a Text action with a label like "left home", then Run Shortcut with that Text as input (Text must sit above Run Shortcut).
- 5Tell the bot what each label should trigger: a wake-up brief, arrival reminders, or a quiet start/finish log.
حاجز الموافقة
Keep the webhook URL and key private. Anything the routine does beyond briefs and reminders (messages, bookings) should ask you first.
ما الذي تعدّله
Events beat polling: no battery drain, and the bot only wakes when something actually happened.
